Objective Studying, monitoring and quantifying the microbial processes involved in the production of methane and nitrous oxide biogasses in particulate matter in suspension and sedimenting in the Rhone delta. -Highlighting bacterial activities which intervene in the production of the biogasses studied: nitrification and denitrification for nitrous oxide and methanogenesis for methane. -Determining the speeds of the various bacterial processes. -Fate of these processes along the Rhone plume from the mouth of the river to the sea. -Fate of these processes over the seasons. This falls under the European METRO-MEDX (MAST III-ELOISE) programme.
