Objective

The objective of the IADO campaigns is to train students from the Master's program in Marine Sciences at Sorbonne University (and the associated international IMBRSea Master's program) in biological oceanography work aboard an oceanographic vessel. As part of two 3-week teaching modules, they plan a mission following the model of CNFC applications, they carry out two days of work at sea each, they collect data and samples, they process the data and analyze the samples back in the laboratory, and, ultimately, they use the resulting datasets as part of personal projects. This way, they become familiar with all the stages of a scientific project involving a mission at sea and are led to understand the consequences of the choices (and mistakes) they make at each stage.
