Objective | The French Chemical Contaminant Monitoring Network (ROCCH) provides each year a new official dataset to update the assessment of the chemical state of French coastal waters in the national and international context. Results (measurements of concentrations of trace metal elements and organic compounds of interest for monitoring the quality of the marine environment) from samples collected during oceanographic campaigns (molluscs tissues and surface sediments) are recorded in the national database (QUADRIGE) and then transmitted to the international databases of the ICES (for the OSPAR Convention) and the Barcelona Convention, and made available to the scientific community, public authorities, as well as to the public (in particular via https://wwz.ifremer.fr/surval/). Samples of shellfish tissues and surface sediment collected during the campaigns also feed the IFREMER Marine Specimen Bank that is available to the scientific community on request. |
