| Objective |
The RESOMER cruises aimed to collect the different links in hake's food chain (not including fish): phytoplankton, sedimented organic matter, zooplankton, sediment endofauna, suprabenthic fauna. The analyses conducted following this survey will determine 1) the source of the organic matter the hake food web is based, 2) the path of this organic matter along the food chain, and 3) the level of PCB (17 components) and mercury contamination in the different links.
Density and biomass assessments of the various faunal categories involved will also be conducted when possible. The RESOMER cruises fall under the national coastal ecology program (PNEC) National coastal environment (PNEC - Northwestern Mediterranean work site) and the Integrated Mediterranean program (PIM - hake food chain). |
