Objective | OISOS3 objective: OISO (Indian Ocean Observation Service) has been INSU-approved since July 1997 and brings together 3 laboratories of IPSL (Institut Pierre Simon Laplace): LPCM, LODYC and LSCE. The programme aims to study variability of the ocean CO2 cycle and related air-sea exchanges over time and space in subtropical, sub-Antarctic and Southern ocean zones. All cruises (2 per year, one in the Southern summer and the other in winter) are scheduled in the South West Indian Ocean sector, following the repeated courses taken by RV Marion Dufresne II. Cruise participants, from LPCM: Christian Brunet, Jérôme Guigand, Aurélie Jabaud, Nicolas Metzl and Bernard Schauer; from IFRTP: Régis Bayard (SHOM), Alain Jaouen and Martin Mellet (SHOM). The related projects are the international IGBP/JGOFS SOLAS programme, European ESCOBA programme and national PROOF/FRAISE, PROOF/ocean color, PNEDC/CLIVAR-austral programmes. NIVMER98 objective (Fabien Lefevre from GRGS): Studying sea level variations over time and space in the sub-Antarctic zone of the Indian Ocean for - ocean tide study - validation of satellite altimetry observations - monitoring of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current - observation of secular variation of Sea Level. This falls under the CSOA - INSU (Observation service) and PNEDC projects. |
