Objective | Studying hydrological surface variability (Pacific/Indian Ocean exchanges) and history of the Indonesian monsoon over the past 150,000 years; Studying hydrological conditions in the Equatorial Indian Ocean since the Neogene; Studying the Kuroshio current variability during the Pleistocene; Tectonic evolution of the Banda Sea. This falls under the international IMAGES (IGBP/PAGES) programme. The zones covered were: East of the Equatorial Indian Ocean, Indonesian archipelago, West and North West (as far as 32 deg N, Basin of Carolines) Equatorial Pacific Ocean, East of The Philippines, East of Taiwan, Okinawa trough (Eastern China Sea). |
