Objective | This mainly involved retrieving and replacing two Atlas buoys for the PIRATA programme. One, the Gavotte buoy, was moored at 10 deg W/10 deg S and the other at 0 deg W/0 deg N. While the vessel was on its way, twice-daily radio soundings were performed at the moment a NOAA/ATOVS satellite passed, to estimate the vertical profile of water vapor. In addition, in response to a request from Ifremer, two MARVOR floats were released in the Gulf of Guinea near the Equator. The related programmes are PIRATA, ECLAT and CLIVAR. |
