• FISHERIES

• -Highlighting resources of commercial fish species at depths between 300 and 800 m on the outer reef slopes of the Fairway-Lansdowne bank and the Chesterfield Atoll.
  -Two sampling techniques were used: bottom fish trawling and bottom longline. In all 17 fishing operations, 9 with the trawl and 8 with the bottom longline, corresponded to setting 5,000 hooks.
  -The stations were selected thanks to acoustic prospecting done with a FURUNO FCV 292 echosounder used at a 28 kHz frequency and to bathymetric maps made available after the ZoNeCo4 cruise by RV L Atalante.
  -Total catches: 822 kg (243 kg with trawl and 579 kg with longline). With
  the exception of tropical red snapper, the cruise did not show up the resources targeted in the depth range of 300-800m of the geographical sector prospected.
