Objectif Projet ZAIANGO : accord cadre IFREMER Nos 98/1212932 & 98/1212934 pour la réalisation d'un programme de recherche au large de l'Angola, du Zaïre et du Congo (confidentialité 10 ans). Les campagnes ZAIANGO 1 et 2 sont les premières réalisées dans le cadre du projet ZAIANGO de recherche en collaboration ELF-IFREMER. Elles visent à compléter les résultats des campagnes GUINESS. Les 4 thématiques principales sont : 1) Établir un modèle de dépôt turbidique pour les Systèmes méandriformes de type Zaïre. 2) Étudier le contexte Géodynamique et la structure de la marge Congo-Angola. 3) Caractériser les zones à hydrates de gaz et en étudier la répartition. 4) Évaluer les risques d'instabilité de pente dans les permis ELF et plus largement sur ce type de marge. ZAIANGO 1 avait pour objectif essentiel de faire une reconnaissance bathymétrique et sonar régional, des profils de sismique rapide et des carottages.
