Objective

The SAINT-PAUL cruise aimed to study the magmatism and dynamics of the mantle location and the ocean crust associated with a region with the greatest density of transform faults in the Atlantic, connecting the African margin with that of Brazil. Contrary to other regions in the Northern and Southern Atlantic, where volcanic activity is intense in the most part, this region of the Equatorial Atlantic zone (0 deg 40 N- 26 deg W) is related to a "colder" lithosphere (weakly magmatic).
