Objective | Studying benthic biological activity in particulate fluxes and their short-term dynamics. 5 repetitive missions in March-April-May 1997(aboard research vessels L'Europe, Aegaeo, Tethys II and George Petit), as part of an HFF multidisciplinary approach (traps, pelagos and tracers), in the dual framework of PNOC and MTP II-MATER. Objectives were defined for each discipline, i.e. geochemistry, biochemistry, bacteriology, foraminifera, meiofauna and the lander. Biogeochemistry: studying the transformations of glutamic and benzoic acids, oxygen flux, CO2 at the water-sediment interface; studying carbohydrate, protein and lipid counts and amino acids to depths of 10 cm. Bacteriology: microflora, bacterial biomass, respiration rate of 14C glutamate and MCA-Leucine protein hydrolysis. Benthic foraminifera. Main zoological groups of the benthic meiofauna and macrofauna. |
