Objective	Contractual objective: -In the framework of the contract to monitor the nuclear power plant at Penly, specifying any modifications of coastal sub-littoral seafloors around the zone of Dieppe-Le Tréport, compared with similar biomorphosedimentary studies conducted in 1988 (Penly) and 1992 (Sonpen). Scientific objectives: -study of the distribution of the polychaete annelid worm Lanice conchilega. -study of sedimentary movements to the west of Dieppe and clarifying the role played by Pointe d'Ailly headland in coastal transit. This falls under the IGA (impact of major developments) project. -

Summary of measurements

-Nearly 550 km of sidescan profiles and bathymetric echosounding were performed along 21 profiles parallel to the coast, between the Pointe d'Ailly and Mesnil-Val-Plage, intersected by 12 cross-cutting profiles.
-The offset of 200 m between the 21 profiles ensures full coverage of this zone, with the sidescan sonar part being set at 100 m.
-In order to calibrate the sonograms, 30 samples of sediment taken (with Hamon grab) and analysed (granulometry of sandy-gravelly fraction and titration of carbonates in total sample).
-Sampling of benthic fauna done at 33 points, with 2 quantitative samples per point performed using Hamon grab (1/8 square metres), and sieved on 2 mm and 1 mm round mesh.
-Nearly 40 km of sidescan sonar profiles were made along 6 profiles parallel to the coast between Veulettes/Mer and the Pointe des Cinq Trous.
-One profile parallel to the coast was made between 0 degree 40 minutes West and 0 degree 55 minutes West.
