Objective | Setting up 64 artificial stations of bioindicators (Mytillus galloprovincialis) in the mean field of pollution (20 to 30 m deep) of the French Mediterranean coast. Each station was made up of a subsurface mooring enabling a 10 kg sample of mussels to be immersed at around 10 m. An in-house report was made on the cruise installing these stations. After 4 months of immersion, the samples were recovered by a vessel not from CIRMED. Analysis of contamination in radioactive elements, heavy metals and organic compounds in mussel tissues enabled the contamination of the coastal area to be characterised. The study results were given in a report sent to the RMC river agency. This cruise fell under the PNEC's Atlantic coast project. |
