Objective	Calculating abundance indices for young age classes of the main fish stocks in the North Sea. This data is essential for international working groups to be able assess the status of stocks annually. Collecting a large amount of biological data concerning all species caught. These data are processed in Boulogne and centralized at the ICES headquarters in Copenhagen, and provide the basis for numerous scientific studies conducted by the participants in this programme. The related project is the International Bottom Trawl Survey.

Summary of measurements

-41 valid bottom trawl hauls, lasting half an hour, were performed using a GOV 36/47 trawl equipped with a 20 mm stretched mesh bunt.
-39 hydrological stations were performed with a CTD to determine the salinity and temperature of the seawater.
-After each trawl haul: sorting, weighing and measuring of species caught.
-Otolith samples taken on the following species: cod, whiting, haddock, Norwegian pout, sprat, herring and plaice.
-Live fish were caught for the Nausicaa centre.
-Samples were taken for the OPRI (Office for Protection against ionizing radiations).
-Samples were taken for the OPRI (Office for Protection against ionizing radiations).
