| Objective | The mesh opening at the back of the codend is a determining parameter for selectivity. Numerical modelling of trawls (shape computation) can be used to quantify this datum providing that the flow in the codend is known (since it cannot be considered as uniform there).Therefore, velocity profiles of the flow along the axis of the codend are measured instantaneously. The results will be used first to qualify the flow (its rate of turbulence) then partly validate a numerical simulation code for the internal/external bounded by porous surfaces (applied to codends). Various parameters (tensions, speeds, etc.) will also be simultaneously recorded. The related projects are the Fisheries programme, Brittany region, State-Region plan contract. |
