Objective Obtaining abundance indexes for the main commercial species fished in the North Sea. These indicators are essential to assess the status of the main stocks (cod, whiting, haddock, Norwegian pout, sprat, herring, mackerel). The related project is the International Bottom Trawl Survey programme in collaboration with the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden.
