Objective Analyzing growth conditions and the physiological condition of young phases in fish (larval stages) is an important step in understanding the mechanisms which provoke fluctuations in the abundance of exploited marine populations marines. In this context, it is essential to know about the biotic and abiotic factors which influence larval survival. This cruise is an attempt to combine hydrology, primary production, secondary production and abundance, and the status of anchovy larvae (Engraulis encrasicolus, L.) in the "Gironde" spawning grounds. It is a contribution to studies under the two national PNDR and PNOC programmes.
