Objective	Studying the formation of dense water off the George V coast, to the west of the Mertz glacier. Determining the hydrological conditions (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen) in regions where the dense shelf water is formed (coastal bays of the Mertz polynya), retained (Adelie depression) and exported (Adelie sill). Continuous monitoring of annual and inter-annual evolution of these conditions as well as the current in the two main sites where the polynya is formed: Commonwealth Bay and Buchanan Bay. Participation in monitoring exchanges at the Adélie sill, by recovering the mooring array of the CSIRO (Hobart, Australia). This fell under the ALBION project.

-43 hydrological profiles with CTD (SBE 911) + O2 (SBE43) + 1 test profile at 139°59'E 66°08.8''S.
-Retrieval and redeployment of two instrumented mooring lines:
-Commonwealth Bay: recovery on 13 January 2009, 03:35 UT, deployment on 14 January 2009 at 02:33 UT, position 66°54.13' S 142°25.47' E. Water level: 810 m.
-Buchanan Bay: recovery on 15 January 2009 at 06:43 UT, deployment on 15 January 2009, 23:27 UT), position: 66° 50.12' S 144° 56.77 E. Water level: 920 m.
-Instruments on mooring lines: ADCP 75 kHz set on bottom + 3 microcats: 1 on seabed, 1 300m deep and 1 500 m (Commonwealth Bay) or 600 m deep (Buchanan Bay).
-Retrieval of 4 instrumented mooring lines of CSIRO (Hobart) on the Adélie sill.
-Retrieval of Polynya 1 (66°12.027' S 143°28.659 E), Polynya 4 (66°10.804' S 143°09.949' E), Polynya 2 (66°12.006' S 143°10.065' E) and Polynya 3 (66°11.958' S 142°54.174' E) on 17 January 2009 between 02:30 and 10:00 UT.
