Objective | Studying the formation of dense water off the George V coast, to the west of the Mertz glacier. Determining the hydrological conditions (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen) in regions where the dense shelf water is formed (coastal bays of the Mertz polynya), retained (Adelie depression) and exported (Adelie sill). Continuous monitoring of annual and inter-annual evolution of these conditions as well as the current in the two main sites where the polynya is formed: Commonwealth Bay and Buchanan Bay. Participation in monitoring exchanges at the Adélie sill, by recovering the mooring array of the CSIRO (Hobart, Australia). This fell under the ALBION project. |
