| Objective | By studying the distribution of surface megafauna, and more especially the cetaceans which are its main elements, we are trying to assess a quantitative measurement of marine secondary production. The previous missions effectively showed that cetaceans are spatial and temporal indicators of highly productive zones. So piggy-back transits will enable us to both map the presence of these animals in the micro-regions crossed and correlate the observations with the recordings of the physical-chemical and biotic conditions seen (surface temperature, salinity, underlying biomass, etc.). |
