Objectif La campagne MUSORSTOM 7 s'est déroulée dans la zone économique des îles Wallis et Futuna. 142 opérations de dragages et de chalutages ont eu lieu dans la zone bathyale supérieure, sur les pentes des îles de Futuna, Alofi et Wallis, et sur les pentes des nombreux monts sous-marins qui parsèment cette région. Des organismes, décrits de Nouvelle-Calédonie, sont retrouvés pour la première fois sur la plaque Pacifique (Sphinctozoaires, Gymnocrinus, Amalda). L¿exploration de la faune benthique a été réalisée dans une gamme de profondeur entre 100 et 1 300 m.
