Objective Studying the dynamics and structure of sand banks in the English Channel and North Sea. The cruise is part of the "FASE" programme framework of the DRO/GM Ifremer Brest "Sedimentary environments" laboratory. The two themes addressed concern the structure of the sandy tidal banks and markers of sea level variations in the Quaternary in the infilling of incised valleys. The first theme falls under the European STARFISH project in the framework of the DG 12's MAST 2 programme. The studies performed on the Sark sand bank also fulfilled some of the objectives of Le Suroit's GEOBASE cruise in 1988, which were not achieved due to poor functioning of the "underwater chassis".
