Objective | Deploying a hydroacoustic observatory to monitor the seismicity associated with ocean expansion along the three ridges in the Indian Ocean and the deformation of the central Indian basin, as well as the presence and migration of large whales in the Southern Indian Ocean. The observatory will be made up of 9 autonomous hydrophones located on 5 sites; 2 antennas of 3 hydrophones 30 km apart were installed on 2 of the sites. 8 were deployed during the VT 109/OHA-SIS-BIO-1 / MD 174/TRACK-2 mission. The instrument on the last site (NE-Ams) was deployed during the VT112-MD175 mission. This falls under the OHA-SIS-BIO project. |
