Objective | The Rebent 18 cruise had a dual objective: (1) monitoring of benthic biocenoses in the frame of REBENT/Brittany. This involved complementing the Bay of Morlaix sector both in terms of acoustics (REBENT 17 mission in 2008) and of biological sampling and seabed observations. Some infralittoral biocenoses of substrates in the bay were previously localized using acoustic devices (DF1000 and EM1000), sediment sampling, underwater videos and biological sampling. (2) spatial monitoring of marl deposits selected in the framework of monitoring the good ecological status of water masses for the Water Framework Directive (WFD). This concerns 10 marl beds around Brittany. Deposits in northern Brittany and the Iroise Sea were covered in 2008 during REBENT 17 (sites of Douarnenez, Molène, Saint-Brieuc and Saint-Malo). Additional coverage is needed in the Bay of Douarnenez, while new surveys were made at Concarneau, Glénan at Belle-île. It is a question of better appraising the extent of the marl beds selected, using acoustic surveys and then refining the information on the biological monitoring station. This is part of the REBENT project. The geographical boundaries of the working zones were: Geographical boundaries (essential): Belle-île : North: 47°24'N South: 47°17'N West: 3°16'W East: 3°02'W //Concarneau: North: 47°49' N South: 47°46' N West 3°55' W East: 3°52' W / Glénan: North: 47°45' N South: 47°42' N West: 4°02' W East: 3°58'W //Douarnenez: North: 48°15' N South: 48°04' N West: 4°34' W East: 4°16'W //Morlaix: North: 48°47' N South: 48°41' N West: 3°59' W East: 3°47'W. |
