| Objective | Using multichannel reflection seismics to image the transition between the thinned crust of the West Iberian margin and the ocean crust of the Atlantic Ocean. Preparing a new cruise for ODP programme drilling by site surveys (close and crossed multichannel seismic profiles on potential drilling sites). Perform seismic surveying of the Iberian abyssal plain which is very poorly known to date. More generally, this cruise's objective was to acquire new seismic data to better limit the models for lithosphere stretching and breaking at the moment an ocean is created. |
