Objective	Assessment of the pelagic system in the Gulf of Lion, considered as an interface between the land environment (Rhone River inflow) and the offshore system in the western Mediterranean. Seasonal aspects of the fertilization-production-regeneration system. Taking account of the main compartments interacting along the geochemical cycle (bacteria, phytoplankton, zooplankton). Characterising water masses through analysing their physical-chemical properties (hydrology, diffusion of terrigenous radioactive tracers) and their floral and faunal content (phytoplankton, zooplankton), satellite imagery.

Summary of measurements

-Hydrological cross-sections with Guideline CTD combined with a GENERALOCEANIC rosette on an array of 22 stations; Cross-sections with SeaBird zone (fluorimetry).
-Measuring dissolved oxygen in water, collected with the YSI oxygen meter, intercalibration by titrimetric measurements.
-Optical profiles with LI-COR underwater spherical quantum sensor.
-Following a north/south leg in the Rhodanian box with TSG survey; SeaBird vertical profiles.
-Vertical hauls with triple WP2 zooplankton net between 600, 200, 100, 50 m and the surface, depending on the bathymetric possibilities at stations.
-Horizontal hauls with single WP2 net; Horizontal hauls with ClarkeBumpus net on the Rhone leg.
