Objective Continuing the ecological, biological and physiological studies performed during the BIOCYATHERM (1982) and BIOCYARISE (1984) cruises on the East Pacific Rise between 12°47 N and 12°51 N. Exploring a new active zone highlighted by surface samples during the HYDROFAST (1986) cruise, located between 12°44 N and 12°47 N. The second and third part of the cruise were carried out in cooperation with the University of California (RV T. Thompson). NB: there was no GPS on board, but the acoustic beacons were moored during a previous cruise using GPS.
