Objective	Studying the relationship linking plankton production and hydrology. Study of short-term variability in production and hydrology parameters. Studying the vertical distribution, structure of the pelagic food web, in typical situations chosen following a succinct description of the zone (20°S ¿ 6°N, 165°E). Other typical situations should be studied in 1988 and 1989 during new PROPPAC cruises.

-Isolated surface temperature measurements.
-27 hydrological stations with Seabird CTDO from 0 to 1000m.
-53 series of samples taken at 12 levels with rosette of 5L Niskin bottles to analyse dissolved substances (nitrate, phosphate, oxygen, total nitrogen and phosphorus, nitrogen, particulate phosphorus and carbon, chlorophyll pigments).
-Primary production measured, ATP.
-Samples for epifluorescence microscope.
-8 series of samples taken at 9 levels with two 30L Niskin bottles, associated to study the vertical distribution of zooplankton and the distribution of particles by size classes.
-8 series of measurements of secondary production.
-14 light profiles.
-24 XBT shots (taking simultaneous samples for surface chlorophyll titration) between 3°N and 20°S, all degrees of latitude.
-89 WP2 plankton nets hauls (>200 m) from 0 to 500 m).
