| Objective | By studying pelagic sediments, better understanding the different phase of the Antarctic Ocean hydro-climate environment's evolution. Determining, by sampling the basement, the nature and origin of this structure, whose history cannot be dissociated from the geodynamic evolution of the Indian Ocean. Identifying the nature of acoustic horizons shown by continuous seismic reflection profiles and dating these horizons in order to construct litho-stratigraphic models. The results obtained from MD48 will be used to select ODP drilling sites. |
