Objective On the theme of matter and energy transfers on continental margins: Defining and quantifying fluxes; Defining the impact of these fluxes of matter on the sedimentary interface (geochemical and biogeochemical processes) and the biological compartment (population distribution and dynamics). ECOMARGE 2 was the second seasonal cruise in 1986. The study zone remained the same, i.e., the margin of the Gulf of Lion, from the mouth of the Rhone River to the Balearic-Provençal basin. ECOMARGE 2 (like ECOMARGE 1) is combined with a PELAGOLION cruise studying the pelagic system and to a cruise by RV "Catherine Laurence" (on the coastal part of the Rhodanian system or dilution zone).
