Objective	Indices of abundance evaluations in the North Sea of the young year-classes (ages 1 and 2) for seven species of very important commercial interest, namely: herring, sprat, mackerel, cod, haddock, whiting and Norway pout. Additional studies are being carried out for by-catch species. Eight nations participate in this programme, which France joined in 1976.
