Objective | The RAMVIL cruise falls under the framework of the GET project whose general objectives are to study and understand the phenomena of toxic algae blooms. The cruise objectives are mainly based on validating new techniques of in situ characterization of particulate matter and discriminating phytoplankton species through analyzing their pigments. Deploying new sensors being developed at IFREMER (video-fluo microscope, Raman spectrometer) makes it possible to obtain a quantitative and qualitative description of the composition of particulate matter in the water column. Samples were taken in identified water layers to validate and calibrate the data from sensors. This falls under the GET project. |
