Objective The objective of the ANTIPROD programme is to understand, using an ecophysiological approach, the mechanisms regulating Antarctic pelagic production, ranging from phytoplankton to krill. It is also looking at the problem of diatom sedimentation and the silica cycle, which is one of the areas of common interest with the APSARA program. The APSARA program proposes to reconstruct the history of climate and ocean circulation in the periantharctic zone over the last hundreds of thousands of years. It is looking at all the factors that reveal oceanographic or climatic variations: O18/O16 ratio of carbonates in foraminifera and silica in diatoms, C13/C12 ratio of carbonates and organic matter in sedimentology, abundance of hot and cold species.
