Objective This cruise is part of the programme "Biology and ecology of settlements linked to deep hydrothermal phenomena". Its goals were more specifically: the study of the spatial distribution of settlements in the areas of hydrothermal springs; the study of the temporal variations of these stands; the study of the trophic network (dissolved and particulate organic matter); detailed study of the biology of two species, namely "Alvinella pompejana" and "Bathymodiolius thermophilis"; important components of the hydrothermal biocenosis.
