Objective | The KAIKO cruise is the first part of a Franco-Japanese cooperation program; the second part is a diving cruise with the submersible Nautile (-6,000m). The objective of Kaiko is the study of the subduction zone around Japan. This second leg is devoted to the Suruga and Sagami deep-sea trenches (study of the transition between Philippine and Pacific subduction). (34N to 35N -139E to 142E). |
