Objective Tephrochronology in the central Mediterranean. The interlayered ashes in marine sediments make it possible to assess volcanic activity over the last 105 years and to verify whether, as in other regions of the globe, a calmer period 18,000 years ago is observed. The chemical analysis of the glassy part of the ash levels will allow us to find the volcanic areas responsible for the deposits. The analysis of trace elements will allow us to understand the magmatic evolution phenomena. Part of the work will consist in establishing correlations between the ash levels from core to core.
