Objective	The GOLF III mission is part of the regional study of the Normano-Breton Gulf (since 1980) and has a long-term perspective. The ecological study must take into account projects for electricity production (tidal power plant, Flamanville nuclear power plant). The definition of water mass structures and the horizontal and vertical distributions of physical, chemical and planktonic parameters were addressed by 3 complementary methodologies: continuous surface measurements, vertical profiles at the station and periodic (tidal) variations at fixed points.

Summary of measurements

-HYDROBIOLOGY: 136 continuous surface measurements: T, S, Chla, TSS, nutrients; Stations with vertical profiles: 71 CTDs (T,S) and 57 hydrological stations with Niskin bottles; 160 to 200 samples of T, S, O2, Chla, TSS, nutrients; 3 fixed points according to the tidal cycle.
-PELAGIC BIOLOGY: Single stations (1 station per geographical point) and 3 fixed points following the tidal cycle (13 stations per geographical point); Sampling of 250 Primary production, 114 phytoplankton per bottle, 131 zooplankton per WP2 and Bongo net for determination and zooplankton biomass, 10 samples of mollusc larvae, 10 samples for Enzymology.
-POLLUTION: in water (study of hydrocarbons) and in sediment (hydrocarbons, heavy metals, pesticides).
