Objectif

Campagne RETRO : REsponse of TROpical Atlantic surface and intermediate waters to changes in the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation. Reconstruire les variations de la circulation méridienne atlantique au cours du dernier glaciaire, de la dernière déglaciation et de l'Holocène.

Nos objectifs sont plus précisément :
(1) de reconstruire les gradients verticaux de température et de densité et leur évolution au cours des changements climatiques des derniers 60 mille ans dans l'Atlantique tropical;
(2) d'analyser les liens entre changements climatiques aux basses et aux hautes latitudes à travers des expériences de modélisation novatrices utilisant les données de haute qualité générées en (1).

Cette campagne est rattachée au programme ESF EuroMARC RETRO (Response of tropical Atlantic surface and intermediate waters to changes in the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation).
