Objective The aim of the EDYLOC project is to evaluate, through long-duration measurements of deep currents, the spatial and temporal scale of the variability of the dynamics of the deep layer in the abyssal plain of the Bay of Biscay. The purpose of this cruise was to launch a network of 6 moorings arranged in a crosswise pattern, each carrying 2 current meters (the central mooring carries 4 additional current meters), and separated from each other by 6 to 40 miles. At the same time, CTD stations were set up near the moorings to describe the hydrological structure in the vicinity of the measuring points.
