Objective | In the framework of the ecological monitoring programme of the Penly nuclear electric power plant site (Seine Maritime), the benthic domain has been studied in a four-yearly biomorpho-sedimentary exploration since 1988 (Penly - 1988, Sonpen-1992, Pycaux-1996, Pycaso-2000, Cauxsom 2004). This study should highlight any modifications in the seabeds around the power plant. Based on EM1000 echosounder and sidescan sonar logs, sediment samples were taken with the Van Veen grab and a map of the sea beds will be drawn up. Any changes which have occurred since the 2004 cruise will then be studied. Analysis of fauna samples taken with a Hamon grab will provide indications about the benthic communities and their developments. This falls under the IGA (impact of major developments) project. |
