| Objective | Assessment of chemical contamination in coastal water masses along the Adriatic (Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Italy), using artificial stations of mussels. The MYTIAD cruise's objective was to use the RINBIO network's methodology. Experiments done in the French Mediterranean since 1996 by IFREMER were extended to the Adriatic coast on the basis of a standardized protocol. This was achieved in the frame of the MYTIMED programme and complements the MYTILOS and MYTIMED cruises. The cruise data will complement those obtained between 2004 and 2007. The long-term objective is to obtain an assessment of the contamination of the Mediterranean basin. In addition, the results will be used to supplement the chemical contamination budget drawn up in the framework of the European Water Framework Directive's implementation. The cruise is related to the INTERREG/MEDOCC/MYTIMED and UNEP/MEDPOL projects. |
