Objectif Les deux campagnes EXTREMA 1 et 2 se focalisent sur l'influence des apports du Rhône à la fois sur la bande côtière littorale et le prodelta rhodanien. L'accent est mis sur le stockage des sédiments fins apportés par le Rhône et leurs temps de séjour dans la zone du prodelta, dans la mesure où les contaminants traces sont tout particulièrement associés aux matériaux les plus fins. Il s'agit de préciser les redistributions/translocation des masses et des contaminants associés en réponse aux tempêtes et aux crues. Cette première campagne permet également d'avoir un état de la composition sédimentaire avant la mise à l'eau d'un ADCP (mesure de courant et de houle) et d'un altimètre (mesure du niveau sédimentaire) à la bouée Roustan Est. La deuxième campagne permettra de faire un état après le relevage de l'instrumentation à la bouée Roustan Est. Afin de tracer les apports continentaux dans cette zone en utilisant des marqueurs comme les radionucléides naturels (210Pb, 7Be, ...) et artificiels (137Cs, 239+240Pu, ...), les métaux et les foraminifères. Classiquement utilisés pour quantifier les processus de sédimentation les radionucléides et les métaux sont également utilisés, au niveau de ce projet, pour étudier les phénomènes de translocation des sédiments apportés par le Rhône dans le Golfe du Lion.
