Objective	The POLMAR mission is part of the general programme to study the oil pollution of the Breton coasts after the grounding of the oil tanker AMOCO CADIZ. The objective of the first mission was to study the spatial dispersion of the oil and its impact on the planktonic flora and fauna.

Summary of measurements

-46 sampling stations distributed from Pointe St Mathieu to the Channel Islands.
-2 vertical WP2 net fisheries (200 u of empty mesh) at the surface and near the bottom.
-2 horizontal FAO net fisheries (500 u) at the surface and near the bottom.
-Sampling for faunal identification and enumeration, measurement of dry weight, protein weight, digestive enzyme activity.
-Sorting of larvae and fish eggs.
-Surface sampling, 6 vertical profiles Niskin bottles and Buterfly type microbiology samplers.
-Measurement of temperature, nutrients, chlorophyll a, phaeophytin, dissolved oxygen, salinity, dissolved hydrocarbons.
-Gas chromatography and spectrofluorimetry.
