Objective

The MD 163 / MOBAMASIS (MOZAMBIQUE BASIN-MADAGASCAR SEISMIC EXPERIMENT) cruise achieved several objectives: seismic imaging (refraction and reflection), surveying of the first ocean crust, magnetism, passive continental margins. This falls under the Sedimentary systems and structuring of margins project.
