Objective The general aim of this cruise is the geological study of the African continental margin and its major tectonic features. This study will enable to reconstruct the geological and structural history of the African basement from the separation between the two continents of Africa and South America to the present day. A biological study will be carried out in parallel with this geological study and will focus on the biogeographic distribution of the deep abyssal and bathyal fauna according to the physical conditions on either side of the Walvis Ridge, and to the sedimentological conditions (Congo and Niger basins).
