| Objective | The main objective of the SCOPE cruise to monitor chemical contamination using passive samplers was to assess innovative instruments (FRAME benthic station) to this end in coastal water masses. The fully configured FRAME bottom station was tested. It was equipped with a continuous measurement module (current speed and direction using ADCP, turbidity) and a sampling module (with the DGT and SBSE passive samplers that can extract and concentrate contaminants in situ) which is automatically triggered when an event is detected by the first module. The first part of the cruise aimed to acquire field data in order to validate the FRAME station's sensors and samplers. Part of the data acquired should also provide data to validate the hydrodynamic model being developed for the bay of Marseille. Studies will be carried out around Marseille, with three zones defined: zone 1: northern bay, 43°20 N - 5°20 E zone 2: southern bay, 43°15 N - 5°20 E zone 3: Cortiou, 43°12 N - 5°24 E. Trials to submerse the station (at the end of the cruise) were to be done in zone 3. Field data acquisition (water and sediment samples) was planned over all three zones. |
