| Objective | The main objective of the MOBIDYC5 cruise is to generalize the correlation between Very High Resolution seismics and core-sampling results in areas showing high sedimentation (> 1cm/an) in order to highlight sedimentary recordings of recent (since about 2,000 BP) environmental changes. This would require taking cores as close as possible to VHR (decimetric resolution) seismic profiles in areas where over 2 m of sedimentary accretion has occurred over the past 200 years. An additional aim is to compare the results with VHR seismics in order to correlate granulometric changes with variations in reflectivity. To this end, soundings were planned along a profile showing lateral variations in reflectivity along the same acoustic horizon. The third objective was to take sediment samples in the anechoic zones corresponding to accumulations of gas (Bertin and Chaumillon, in press). These samples enabled chemical and biological analyses to be made, indicating the nature of accumulated gasses and the organisms which produce them. This falls under the national coastal environment program, or PNEC. |
