Objective | PLURIEL (headed by M. Maia): The PLURIEL (PLUme Ridge Interaction and EvoLution) project's objective was to study how the interaction between the Saint-Paul Amsterdam hotspot and the South-east Indian Ridge evolves over time and space. The study is based on the geophysical and geochemical characterization of this interaction. EXTRAPLAC (headed by B. Loubrieu): in association with the PLURIEL project, EXTRAPLAC studies aim to map the shelf of St-Paul and Amsterdam for the claim to extend the legal Continental Shelf. The claims are based on morphological criteria and must be located on a detailed map of the point of maximum change in the gradient at the foot of the shelf, both on a regional and local scale. DEFLO-HYDRO (headed by J.-Y. Royer): The objective of the DEFLO-HYDRO project was to deploy three hydrophones in the water column to acoustically monitor the seismic activity associated with oceanic spread along the three ridges in the Indian Ocean and with the deformation of the Central Indian Basin. These three instruments complement a network of 3 permanent hydroacoustic stations already set up in the Indian Ocean. The related programs are: PLURIEL, EXTRAPLAC and DEFLO-HYDRO |
