Objectif

Les objectifs opérationnels de la campagne AUSFAIR étaient les suivants :
(1) récupérer des carottages géants CALYSO (ainsi que l'eau des pores et des échantillons de gaz) des zones des fonds de mer dans les bassins de Fairway et de Capel qui pourraient, si un grand réflecteur BSR est présent, recouvrir des réservoirs d'hydrates de gaz ou bien des diapirs ;
(2) obtenir des mesures de flux de chaleur dans les basins de Capel et de Fairway basins, en particuliers dans les zones ou des fluides des couches profondes des bassins migrent le long des failles;
(3) draguer le sous-sol et/ou des roches syn-rift sur les flancs du Basin de Fairway;
(4) obtenir des données bathymétrique, des profils sous le fond de mer, des données gravitaires et magnétiques sur des portions de la Ride Lord Howe, du Bassin de Nouvelle-Calédonie, du Bassin Middleton, de la Ride Dampier, du Bassin de Tasman et de la marge continentale de l'Australie de l'est.
