Objective | The ERODER project, acronym for erosion and dismantling of the volcanic edifice of Reunion island, focuses on studying volcanic edifice dismantling processes, the roles respectively played by flank destabilizations and erosion, as well as the transport dynamics of matter on the flanks of the volcanic edifice. The ERODER 1 cruise aimed to: 1) map (bathymetry and imagery from EM120 and EM1002S multibeam echosounders) the top part of the edifice, to complement the FOREVER survey performed by RV L'Atalante around Reunion Island in 2006; 2) acquire magnetism and gravimetry data during the survey; 3) take core samples on sedimentary structures detected using SBP120 sub-bottom profiler. |
