Objective

The main objective of this cruise was to define and study the physical, chemical and biological contours of the niche of Dinophysis acuminata. This toxic dinoflagellate contaminates shellfish with diarrheic toxins. Although present in very low cellular densities, this species is the main nuisance along all Western European coasts. Therefore, study of this rare species should provide fundamental knowledge. This cruise was carried out under contract (European FP6 program) and falls under the ALTOX - Action ALDIN project.
